Why Art?
Did you know that art is creative expression. When children use their imagination and skills to create something, it reflects who they are and how they see the world. It can come in many different forms. Painting, music, dancing, sewing, writing music, taking pictures or doing videos, and theatre.
Not only art is creative expression, art helps children learn to express themselves their feelings, ideas, cultures, and values. It is also therapeutic for mental health.
What are the developmental stages and benefits:
Children go through stages in their artistic development that correspond with their cognitive development.
Scribbling Stage (1-3 years) Early scribbles and random marks start to acquire shape as kids develop motor skills.
Pre-Schematic Stage (4-6 years) Children begin to draw more identifiable figures and shapes, frequently using human depictions that resemble tadpoles.
Schematic Stage (7-9 years) Consistent schematic forms with a distinct base and an awareness of spatial relationships are found in art work.
Dawning Realism (9-11 years) Children become conscious of proportion, details, and spatial relationships.
The Pseudo-Naturalistic Stage (11-13 years) A strong desire for realism is seen in the attention to minute details and nuance. Every stage corresponds to the student's world view.
The art class students will learn about different materials and tools they can use utilizing a variety of items to encourage their expression and creativity.
What will my child learn in the art classes?
Material selections:
Safety: Age appropriate and non toxic.
Sensory experiences: Texture, colors, and scent will all be present in materials to give a varied sensory experience.
Ease and use: The right materials for your child that are appropriate for the developmental stage and skill level.
Expressive potential: Provide a wide range of expressive possibilities.
Art Materials:
Paper: Differences in color, texture, and size.
Drawing Materials: crayons, markers, pencils, chalk, and pencils.
Paints: Such as tempera, watercolor, and fingerpaints.
Clay and Modeling materials: Model clay, playdough, and other pliable materials.
Collage supplies: Magazines, cloth, buttons, and other adhesive for experimenting with various mediums.
Miscellaneous: Things for building, sculpting, and three dimensional art.
Students learn to use their space and materials while learning how to be organized.

Devra – Founder, Educator, and Lifelong Learner
Hi! I'm Ms.Devra and I'm the owner of Smartiekats Preschool . —educator, lifelong learner, and founder of Smartiekats Preschool. I’ve always believed that teaching is more than a job—it’s a calling. Being able to support children on their learning journey and provide them with encouragement, creativity, and love is one of life’s greatest blessings.
I’ve always had a passion for art, music, and the power of self-expression. I enjoy playing piano, watching horror movies (yes, even the scary ones!), reading a good book, and listening to everything from classical to creative soundscapes. These passions inspire how I teach—because I believe learning should be joyful, imaginative, and a reflection of the child.

My child already spends a lot of time on screens. Does this replace the screen time?
With Smartiekats Enrichment program, it's not about quantity, but quality. Every minute is designed to be interactive, engaging, and beneficial for their development and to learn new skills. You'll swap passive cartoon watching with active learning that preps them for learning the world around them and beyond!
Not only we offer local but also online. Is online as effective as local Smartiekats Enrichment program?
While the experience is different, Smartiekats Enrichment program has crafted a curriculum that harnesses the power of digital tools to boost learning. Our teachers create lessons ensuring your child gets the benefits of traditional a traditional classroom, right at home.
I'm super busy. Do I need to supervise my child?
Smartiekats Enrichment programs are not only local but is also designed for busy parents in mind. You or your child can just click PLAY! It's user-friendly, and the activities are crafted to keep your child engaged on their own. Plus, it gives you some free time, knowing they're in a safe, educational space. Parental guidance is helpful in case of technical difficulty or help for logging on to the zoom. Students do not need any expensive toys, furnishings or other items. They do need well designed space that is safe for the student to do activities/projects. Depending on the age: Parental guidance is necessary incase student needs help with an activity with guidance. Such as gluing, cutting with scissors etc. There are no third party websites that will be used for the lessons or signing in for accounts. We do give parents notification if we do have live virtual trip and need permission from the parent.
Is Smartiekats Enrichment programs easy to access?
Yes. As long as you have an internet connection, you can access it anytime, anywhere, on any device.
Better yet, Smartiekats gives you choices, in person enrichment programs in our McDonough, GA location, online or both.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is a form to fill out to withdrawal from the Enrichment program. Please give thirty days notice. The monthly tuition price is a reflection of the yearly tuition divided into convenient monthly payments for parents, so the monthly fee remains the same, regardless of holidays. There are no refunds or prorated months.
Do I need to buy supplies?
Some of our enrichment program lessons in the curriculum is designed to be hands-on and self-contained within our class each day so you don't have to buy any additional supplies. Occasionally, there are lessons that you would need to print out templates or instructions that will be sent to you that you can prepare your little one for the class activities or projects, it is helpful to have a printer. Some supplies also you might need that are simply around the house items will be needed. I try my best to keep it as simple as possible.

Payments and Fees
Registrations fee is due in advance. Tuition is due within seven days before class starts. Then monthly charges will be automatically taken out until canceled. Tuition that are reverted will be considered as late and late fee will apply. Please cancel/withdrawal to avoid late fee within one week in advance to avoid any responsible payment fees for the class week/schedule in question.
Late pick up fee: Classes 4-7pm and 10-12 pm
We give a 15 min grace period. After 15 min. Charges will be $2.00 per minute. after the 15 minute.
When registering online we only use stripe for payments.
Call to register if not using stripe payment or email we will help you get registered.
What if my child misses the class?
If your children aren't able to make it to class one day, that's okay! Please let us know asap. We give online students that have live classes a ten minute wait period for no shows. If you have online and demand. Simply sign in to your Smartiekats members login, once logged in you can print the worksheets from the members area, you can get instructions, watch the video. Or, if any issues let us know. Or a problem with a link.
